Step Outside the Box

Too many times we try to rely on our own strength, our own power to get us by. What we sometimes fail to realize is that without God, we do not have power. Yes, we have the ability to meagerly crawl through life, but that is not our purpose. God did not put us here to just get by. He put us here to be more than conquerors, to live a full life filled with purpose and meaning.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

There are too many people running the treadmill of life. Running fast, running hard, but still staring at the same blank wall straight ahead. It is time we get out of our comfort zone and take that path that leads us to a place we have never been. To a place we never knew existed.

In order to do that you first need to realize that God is not sitting in your comfort zone waiting on you to take that step. He is standing outside the box of normality asking you to trust in Him. You do not need to know where you are going you just need to have faith in God that He is taking you where you need to be. The journey is not always fun, it’s not always easy, but it is always necessary.

…Exhausted but still in pursuit


For seven years the land of Israel was under the control of the Midianites because of their disobedience to God’s word.  Their land was seized, crops destroyed, and they were forced to make their homes in the mountains.

When they finally called out for help, the Lord looked to Gideon, the youngest member of the weakest family of Manasseh.  Gideon was full of doubt and insecurity telling the Lord he did not have the ability to save Israel.  Through his own eyes Gideon saw himself as insignificant, but through God’s eyes he was a mighty man of valor.

Lacking confidence and armed with nothing more than the promise of God, Gideon set out on his mission to save his land and bring glory to the name of God.  Gideon found his courage and led an army of 300 men against 120,000 Midianites.  Where did he find his courage?  In the promise of the Lord, “By the three hundred men… I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand.”
